Not QUITE a Toy, But Close – I wanted an inexpensive snapshot camera for my wife, the technophobe. This Vmotal unit will probably do the job but it is definitely only good for casual snapshots. The camera is labeled “12 Megapixels” Maybe, but even with everything set to the highest resolution looks like 10 of those 12 megapixels got lost in the process. Files are JPG format and show a lot of compression artifacts, probably because of processor speed limitations. Using auto-exposure, highlights are blown out unless the scene has a very low dynamic range. Auto-focus isn’t a problem because I don’t think it has any, just the old Kodak Brownie style fixed-focus lens. Sensitivity seems low and normal indoor lighting seems to be barely adequate, with long exposure time requiring a very steady hand to minimize motion blur (I’m still playing with settings, but the “anti-shake” setting doesn’t seem to help at all). Overall, best results seem to be using highest detail settings all around coupled with manually setting ISO to 400, the highest setting.

This camera does not come with a memory card, or any on board memory! – So far the camera looks fine, it is very light weight, but that is not necessarily a bad thing. That said, this camera does not come with any on board memory, it need a separate memory card to work (the camera can use up to 32GB SD card and they recommend it be a class 10). So this is not out of the box ready, and it isn’t clear that you have to buy a separate SD card to use it.

good camera – takes good shots

a little short on charge life – OK for the money. Menus are a little confusing and the battery charge duration is a little short.

Smaller than I thought – It takes good pictures but the instructions are not very easy to understand
