Buy Extra Batteries & Verify Network Strength – I’ve enjoyed this camera so far but here are some potential downsides or simply things to consider.

Works well – I got this Ring Cam to cover the back and side corner of my property. The set up worked flawlessly and the install did except for one very frustrating issue with the collar screw which was almost impossible to loosen enough to allow the ball connection on the back of the Cam to fit inside the wall mount. Besides the screw being in too tight to begin with, I had the hardest time finding a Phillips screwdriver that would connect to finally loosen the collar just enough to make it fit inside! This is my third Ring, doorbell, outdoor Cam and this Ring Spotlight Cam. All three work together very well.

Camera is good – Right out of the box I had to charge it and then when I was ready to install it didn’t recognize the QR codes and the setup light never came on. That was frustrating, I had to call ring support to get it set up the person was nice and it wasn’t that bad of an experience installing it was very easy took only a few minutes and it works great. Just what we needed – Really like the ease of installment and so far the camera has worked very well. We now see nightly feline visitors slip in and out of our gates, gives us peace of mind knowing that it will also alert us to deliveries as we cannot see our gate/driveway from the house and most importantly, any people sneaking around under cover of darkness attempting to enter. We live in a very rural area, far from the nearest town, so it’s nice that a bright light shines on anyone with thieving on their mind.

Camera clamp was stripped turned and turned can’t get anew clamp had to use a hose clamp – Camera works well easy setup, problem was the clamp to hold the camera was stripped can’t get a replacement part solution was to use a hose clamp Amazon gave me a $25 Credit for it you don’t a parts list to replacement the defect part either return it or get a credit returning required takings it and shipping it back so I took the credit.

Needs Updated Solar Panel – I had to place three orders just to get it operating right. I ordered the cam thinking I could use the solar panel I had. Ordered an adapter that did not work. Finally ordered the new solar panel and it is finally working fine. It’s not as bright as I expected, but is doing what I needed.

Placement is important – Very easy to install (like all of our Ring products) and for installing ourselves and linking with our other devices it’s worth the money. We installed it on the back of our house and kind of high up to angle down so the light shines well but not a great picture when looking. For us not too big of a deal since we have a doorbell on our back door and can see with that. If this is the first product from Ring or only one used in a certain area I recommend installing lower. Still great product.

Can’t connect to wifi6 – This spotlight cam is great – battery lasts a long time with two batteries – pretty amazing. Biggest is that I cannot get it, for the life of me, to connect to a wifi 6 network. I had to plug in my old router to make it work (and spent a long time trying to troubleshoot). would increase to 5 full stars if that could get sorted out.
