Good to deter – It’s a shame that I need to worry about the safety of my family, but it is an unfortunate fact of life. I would love to have a full blown surveillance system, but that’s not financially feasible for us. So, with that in mind we tried the dummy security camera. I can’t say whether it will actually be a deterrent, but I can say that I like the idea. No massive costs and a little peace of mind. This dummy cam comes with sticker window signage and will need batteries for the flashing light to operate. Ours has been “operational” for a week and the batteries/light are still good to go. I actually removed the batteries because real cameras glow red at night instead of blink. Better to have them just not blink. The camera has adjustable angles and pivots for different placement options. It also has a sliding hood that would go over where the lens would be. Also included is a dummy cord, but I’m not sure how convincing it is as it’s basically a small black tube not more than a foot in length. I actually installed these on the interior of the house where the window is pointing towards the outside. They are mounted on the wall, on the sides of the window sills. Too hard without a drill to install on siding.

Awesome – these are great dummy cameras.I put the batteries in just about 3 months ago and the little red light is still blinking bright and steady.Everyone thinks they are real cameras.Love it.Just 2 or 3 screws and they are installed.

Good for what they are for – Nothing fancy. But good for a deterrent. I had to replace black plastic hose that is supposed to look like camera wire. I replaced it with twisted pair wire and it looks much more authentic.

Looks so real my neighbors can be seen waving at the camera – Too funny to see my neighbor waving at the camera as they think I can see them from these fake camera. These look very real and the batteries (not included – I used Energizer) have continued to work for 4 months. The install is super easy with screws included. I now have them around the house and rain, wind and snow have not impacted the look and operation. The battery area is well protected and the actual “camera” has an overhang that protects the fake lens. Highly recommend these!!! One option is to supplement these with a real camera (we like to see who is at the front door). You can buy one or two real cameras and use these around your property to reduce risk from theft. They even come with small stickers that warn the property in under video surveillance.

As a case for a raspberry pi camera system these do work, but you may need to make certain sacrifices. – If you don’t know what a raspberry pi is, this review is NOT for you. I don NOT use this product in a manner it is intended to be used. For starters, I am using these dummy cases with a raspberry pi 3 B, and a pi noir camera, plus ir illuminators paired with the cameras. I currently have 6 installed in this config, which are providing a RTSP stream to a centralized zoneminder server. This central zoneminder server is also acting as a server to another 6 cheap DLink webcams. The pi+ir illuminators work in most light (assuming the illuminator is strong enough/not drowned out by other lighting), where the DLinks are dead in low/no light.
